AI transparency

As of: 8 October 2026

This site uses artificial intelligence (AI). This page explains where we use it, what we check before publishing, where the notices appear while you study, and how AI-made content is marked so machines can detect it, under the EU AI Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, the “AI Act”).

Where we use AI

  • Exercises and practice papers: exercise texts, tasks and explanations are produced with the help of AI. We prepare them editorially in advance, without using learners’ data.
  • Illustrations: the images on this site are AI-generated. They depict no real people and no real events.
  • Synthetic audio: the listening recordings and dialogues are AI-generated synthetic voices, not recordings of real voice actors. And the assessment of your answers is produced automatically by an AI system.

Our role under the AI Act: we put the AI assessment system into service under our own name, so we are its provider within the meaning of Art. 3(3) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 — the definition expressly covers putting a system into service “whether for payment or free of charge”, so the fact that the Service is free changes nothing. The third-party models with which we prepare the material in advance we use as a deployer within the meaning of Art. 3(4) of the same Regulation.

The human check

No material is published as it comes out of the model. Before it goes online we read it and correct it ourselves: we check the language and the match with the format of the A2-level Italian test — the structure of its parts, the task types and the scoring.

Even so, some errors can remain, and the automated assessment can get things wrong. If you spot a mistake, write to us and we will fix it.

Where the notices appear

  • Before every interaction with AI — above the text field — there is a notice telling you that an AI system will assess your answer, that the assessment is for practice only and that it is not an official exam result (Art. 50(1) AI Act).
  • The same notice asks you not to enter real personal data (full names, addresses, phone numbers) in the text fields.
  • Every assessment output carries the line “Automated AI evaluation — not an official exam result; may contain errors.”
  • The listening papers carry a synthetic-voices note.
  • Every content page carries the ⓘ “AI content” button, which opens the full panel; the same panel is reachable from the footer.

Machine-readable marking

Besides the notices addressed to people, AI-made content is marked so that an automated system can recognise it too. The marking uses the standard IPTC vocabulary term “trainedAlgorithmicMedia” and is present at four levels:

  • in the files themselves: images carry the IPTC/XMP DigitalSourceType field, audio files carry the same value in an ID3 field;
  • in the server response: every generated media file is served with the X-AI-Generated HTTP header;
  • in the page: a <meta name="ai-generated-content"> element on every page that contains AI-made material;
  • in the document: the data-ai-generated attribute on the page’s main container and on every AI assessment output.

A limitation we state openly: file metadata does not survive re-processing by third parties — if an image is re-uploaded to a platform that re-encodes it, that step strips the marking, not us.

The site’s identity marks — the logo and the brand icons — are deliberately NOT marked as generated content. They too were drawn with AI tools, but they identify the service rather than being study material: declaring them “generated content” would mislead as much as staying silent about the origin of an illustration would.

Independence

We are an independent private project. We are not connected to any public authority or examination body, we do not act on their behalf, we do not run the official test, we do not assess it, and we issue no certificate or attestation of any kind.

Our material is for preparation and replaces neither a teacher nor a language course. The official outcome is decided solely by the competent commission at the end of the test. Where we name a test, we do so purely descriptively, to say what our materials prepare you for.

Your data

We do not ask you to identify yourself in order to use the site. The answer you submit for assessment is passed to the model provider only in order to produce the assessment, is returned to you, and is handed to no one else. What is processed, on what legal basis and for how long is described in the privacy policy.
